Two fall favorites—apples and pears—come together in a yummy yogurt shake that’s a perfect thermos-filler for busy mornings.

Makes: 2 Servings

Kitchen Gear: 

Cutting board
Sharp knife (adult needed)
Measuring cup
Measuring spoons
Citrus zester or grater
Blender (adult needed)


1⁄2 cup
apple cider or apple juice
1⁄2 cup
plain yogurt
very ripe pear, quartered and cored
overripe banana
Juice and grated zest from 1/4 lemon
ice cubes


  1. Put all the ingredients in the blender in the order listed.
  2. Put the top on tightly. Turn the blender to a medium setting and blend until the ice is chopped and the mixture is smooth, about 1 minute
  3. Serve right away, or store in a thermos or covered in the refrigerator, up to 4 hours.


Or Else

Instead of the lemon zest, add 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger.
